Grant Details: The Maryland Orthopaedic Association is pleased to announce a $5,000 award to support an innovative research project that will change/meaningfully impact current orthopaedic clinical practice. Priority will be extended to novel studies of topics not previously investigated in the literature. Clinical, biomechanics, or translational studies will be considered. Funding may be used, for example, to support a research assistant/summer student, laboratory/specimen fees, or statistical analyses, but other expenditures are not prohibited.

Eligibility: Any orthopaedic attending physician who practices in the state of Maryland, has not received federal grant funding, and is an active member of the Maryland Orthopaedic Association is eligible to apply. Those who are not active members of the Maryland Orthopaedic Association may submit one-year membership dues at the time of grant application submission.

Application Details: As a guideline, the grant application should contain the following sections: Title, Summary, Introduction, Specific Aims, Pilot Data (if any), Research Strategy (study design, inclusion/exclusion criteria, intervention, sample size calculation, data collection, statistical analysis, study timeline), Expected Outcomes, Anticipated Problems and Offered Solutions, Facilities and Other Resources, and Bibliography and References. The above sections may be tailored to the scope and type of study.
